Low tech solution: Get one of the FM-band broadcasters and switch the audio out on the Mac from the stereo to the broadcaster every time we want to listen in the other room. Higher tech solution: Set up the PC to always listen to the Mac, and use something like Nicecast to broadcast the sound onto the PC.ĭownside, cost of Nicecast plus potential sound degradation.Īlternative higher tech solution: set up VNC on the PC and control iTunes on the PC directly (playing songs shared off the Mac). I don't think there is such a program, though. This would have a nice clean interface and no degrading the sound quality. It will continue to be supported until the end of 2018, then it will be fully deprecated and is unlikely to be supported on the next major MacOS update. When we want to play, we go to the Mac and select a song and change the output to go to the PC. Hi all, Earlier this month, Rogue Amoeba published explaining that Nicecast has now been retired from active development. Ideal solution: Find some PC software that can convince the Mac that it is an Airport Express. Do you know guys the like nicecast that can be automatically connect with skype That's the feature I'm looking for but I can't find one for windows. But sadly it's not compatible with windows.

Does anyone have a good solution to this problem? Here's what I've come up with so far: Nicecast is a really good program for Mac. The problem is that we can't directly use the PC laptop, so we need some way to send the audio from the Mac to the PC over the network. Additionally I dont understand what 'bump posts' mean. I am just looking for an alternative to NiceCast without the quality limitation - that should be a quite clear requirement. We have an old PC laptop with a busted screen that we can use to control the other stereo system. I cant describe that more in detail and I thought that is not necessary.

We'd now like to also play our sound on another stereo system in another room of the house. Shoutcast DSP Plugin for Mac OS X, Linux, and FreeBSD this is the same location you would get the regular Shoutcast DSP for Windows software that has not been improved on for some time. My family has a powerbook in our living room that we use as a music server: it has gigs of music and connects directly to our stereo for playback.
